Privacy policy

This policy covers the apps Nanabee Sleep, Nanabee Names and Nanabee Moments ("the apps") and this website. The short version: the apps have no accounts, your recordings, photos and favourite names stay on your phone, and what we do collect is used to keep the apps working and to make them better.

What stays on your phone
The following never leaves your phone unless you share it yourself:
- Sleep: voice recordings you make, your routines, sleep history and settings. Listening for crying happens on the phone; the sound is not recorded or sent anywhere.
- Sleep baby monitor: sound and video go directly between your two phones over your own Wi-Fi. They do not pass through our servers and are not recorded.
- Moments: your child's name, birth date and profile photo, the photos you choose or take, and the pictures you make. Reminders are scheduled on the phone. A picture is saved to your photo gallery only when you choose to save it.
- Names: your favourites, the names you skipped and your filters, unless you link with a partner (see below).
If you delete an app, this data is deleted with it. Pictures you saved to your gallery stay there.
What we collect, and why
Usage statistics (all apps)
We count how the apps are used, for example that a sound was played, a photo was saved or the Pro screen was opened, together with the app version, phone model, operating system, language and an approximate country. Each installation gets a random identifier; we do not know who you are. We do not record your screen or your taps. We use PostHog (servers in the EU). Purpose: to see which features are used and where the apps need work. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the apps (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). PostHog does not store your IP address and keeps these events for up to one year. You can object at any time by writing to us.
Crash reports (all apps)
When an app crashes or hits an error, it sends a technical report: what went wrong, the app version, phone model and operating system, and the steps in the app just before the error. Reports contain no names, photos or recordings. We use Sentry (servers in the EU), which keeps reports for up to 90 days. Legal basis: legitimate interest in apps that work (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Purchases (all apps)
Payments are handled by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card details. To know whether Pro is unlocked, the apps use RevenueCat, which receives a random app identifier and your purchase history (product, date, price, renewal status). Legal basis: to provide what you bought (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Free trial (Sleep)
So that each phone gets the free trial once, the app sends a one-way, salted fingerprint of the phone's app identifier to our server, along with the platform and the trial dates. The identifier itself is not stored. We keep this record for as long as the trial is offered. Our server runs on Supabase (EU). Legal basis: legitimate interest in preventing misuse of the trial (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Partner matching (Names)
If you invite a partner or join one, the app creates an anonymous account on our server (no email, no password). To show the names you both like, the server keeps the pair, the names each of you liked and when, and failed attempts to enter an invite code (to limit guessing). Your partner sees the names you both liked. When either of you unlinks, the pair and its likes are deleted. Server: Supabase (EU). Legal basis: to provide the feature you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Name statistics
Names downloads yearly name statistics from our server. These requests contain no personal data beyond what any internet request does (your IP address, used only to deliver the response).
Emails to us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message to answer and keep them for as long as needed for that.

Who else receives data
Only the services named above, which process data on our behalf: PostHog, Sentry, Supabase and RevenueCat, plus Google and Apple as app stores. We do not sell personal data and we do not show ads. RevenueCat is based in the United States; transfers there are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
The apps are made for parents and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Information about your child that you enter, such as a name, birth date or photos in Moments, stays on your phone.
Delete your data
This applies to Nanabee Sleep, Nanabee Names and Nanabee Moments.
- Data on your phone: delete the app, or clear its data in your phone's settings. Recordings, routines, history, photos, child profiles and favourite names are deleted at once. Pictures you saved to your gallery stay there until you delete them.
- Partner matching (Names): unlink in the Partner tab. The pair and its likes are deleted from our server right away.
- Everything else: write to hello@nanabee.app with the subject "Delete my data", the app, your phone model and roughly when you used the app. Because the apps have no accounts, this helps us find your data. We answer within 30 days and delete the usage statistics (PostHog), crash reports (Sentry), the trial record (Sleep) and the purchase link in RevenueCat that we can match.
What is kept: Google Play and the App Store keep their own records of your purchases, and we cannot delete those; a deleted RevenueCat record may come back when you restore a purchase. Without a request, usage statistics are deleted after one year, crash reports after 90 days, and the trial record when the trial is no longer offered.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to its use, and ask for a copy. Because we do not know who you are, please tell us which app and phone you mean, and we will help find the data. Write to hello@nanabee.app. You may also complain to your data protection authority; in Serbia this is the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.
Security
Data sent to our servers is encrypted in transit. Our database allows each phone to read only its own pair's data, and trial records only through our server.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top. For important changes we also say so in the apps.
